Scar Revision Care Instructions

Scar Revision Care Instructions

Proper preparation and care for your skin is essential to ensure the best healing and results from your treatment. Please follow these Scar Revision care instructions both before and after your appointment.

Before Your Appointment

Note: If you tend to bleed easily during treatments, please extend the recommended avoidance times listed below to help minimize bleeding and support optimal results.

30 days before:
- Discontinue Botox or fillers in the treatment area.
- Avoid laser treatments on the area.
- Pause Vitamin A/Retinol products or prescription retinoids on the area.
- Avoid strong fruit or milk acids/chemical exfoliants on the area.

14 days before:
- Avoid antibiotics unless approved by your physician or practitioner.
- Skip suntanning/tanning beds (including self-tanner) on the area.
- Refrain from facials, body scrubs, or chemical peels on the area.
- Discontinue high-dose supplements that thin the blood or slow healing (Vitamin C, Vitamin E, Turmeric, Ginger, Fish and Omega Oils).

7 days before:
- Avoid exfoliating acids or harsh scrubs on the area.
- Do not wax, sugar, or use depilatory creams on the area.

48 hours before:
- Avoid alcoholic beverages.
- Discontinue anti-inflammatories or blood-thinning medications (Aspirin, Ibuprofen, Naproxen, Advil, Midol, Motrin, etc.) unless prescribed by your physician.

Day of your appointment:
- NO CAFFEINE! (coffee, decaf coffee, teas, sodas, chocolate, kombucha).
- No working out or excessive sweating before your session.
- Arrive with clean, product-free skin on the treatment area.
- Drink water - hydrated skin responds beautifully.

After Your Appointment

Note: If you typically heal more slowly or have experienced prolonged healing with past treatments, allow extra time between steps and continue your aftercare products a little longer than recommended to support optimal recovery.

DAY 1
Keep the area dry. Do not wash or wet the treated area for the first 24 hours.
Do not touch, scratch, or pick at the treated area.
Mild swelling and redness are normal and should subside within 24-48 hours. If you have very sensitive skin, it can last up to and around 72 hours.

DAY 2
Clean gently. After 24 hours, wash the area with a mild, fragrance-free soap and lukewarm water.
Pat dry with a clean towel (do not rub).
Apply your designated aftercare product as instructed:
- Light Scars: use Nue Regen morning and night.
- Dark Scars: use Nue Bright morning and night.

DAYS 3 - 7
Continue gentle cleansing and apply your designated aftercare product twice daily (morning and night).
Reapply if the area feels dry or tight.
Avoid swimming, saunas, heavy sweating, or tight clothing over the treated area.
Stay hydrated to support skin healing.

WEEK 2 ONWARD
Begin sun protection once the area has fully healed and any scabs have naturally fallen off (usually after 7 days or more).
Use only a mineral SPF 50+ or the recommended scar-specific product.
Do not substitute with other SPF products or creams.

DO'S AND DON'TS
DO:
Keep the area clean, dry, and moisturized with your designated aftercare products.
Drink plenty of water to support skin regeneration.
Wear loose clothing over the area to avoid friction.
Apply only the approved SPF once healed.
DON'T
Touch, pick, or scratch at the treated area.
Use any products other than your assigned aftercare formula.
Expose the area to direct sun or tanning for at least 30 days.
Swim, use saunas, or engage in heavy sweating for at least 7 days.
Wear tight clothing over the area during healing.

What to Expect While Healing

0-24 hours: Mild redness, swelling, or tenderness is normal.
36 hours onward: The area may darken slightly - this is part of the healing process.
2-6 weeks: Gradual smoothing and softening of the scar occur as skin regenerates.
Clients with deeper skin tones may take slightly longer to see final results. Continued use of your designated aftercare product and SPF will help even out the skin tone and texture.
Extended darkening simply means your skin needs more time. Please be patient and consistent - your skin will even out.

Rare Symptoms & When to Seek Help

Blistering, excessive pain, or mild fever can occur rarely.
If redness, swelling, or tenderness persists beyond 5–7 days, stop all aftercare products and allow the skin to recover naturally.
If symptoms worsen or do not improve, consult a physician promptly.
